Position Title: Facility Custodian
Duty Station: Paynesville, Liberia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: 48 hours weekly
Reports To: Office Manager
Position Summary
The Facility Custodian is responsible for cleaning, sanitation, and maintaining the offices and other company assets. The Facility Custodian is tasked with the responsibility of inspecting property, and performing maintenance duties such as replacing light bulbs and other minor repairs. The role include sweeping, cleaning, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, emptying waste bins, and fixing minor issues.
The Facility Custodian may be responsible for unlocking and locking the office early in the morning and late in the evening respectively. The responsibilities also involve resupplying or restocking restroom paper products and toiletries such as air fresheners, towels and soaps.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean building floors by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, wiping, waxing, and vacuuming them.
- Clean, polish office tables, chairs, desks and all other furniture used in the office.
- Dust mechanical devices like monitors, desktops, printers, and other devices.
- Clean windows, doors, glasses and mirrors with the necessary cleaning substances.
- Maintain the supply and equipment needed for cleaning duties.
- Make sure that waste bins are emptied to avoid trash littering around.
- Restock or resupply restroom papers and make sure the toilet is in a good condition.
- Take careful and safety measures in the use of chemicals which can be harmful to the body or can damage things.
- Unlock and lock building doors early in the morning and late in evening respectively.
- Keeping janitorial equipment, such as floor buffers, mops, brooms, and vacuums, in good condition.
- Securing a facility once maintenance tasks are complete.
- Notify supervisors or managers of major repairs.
- Ability to work well individually with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
Education
- The Facility Custodian requires no formal education but basic high school level reading and comprehension is expected. Basic math skills are also required.
- Must be able to make minor repairs to fix plumbing, electrical and mechanical faults with equipment such as mower and vacuum cleaner.
- Will be required to perform their daily duties regularly. Must also be able to lift heavy loads and bend or stand for long periods while carrying out cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 – 3 years of janitorial or custodial services or similar experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Cleaning techniques and sanitation standards.

- Reliability and time management.
- Basic repair and maintenance abilities.
